Once you ve removed any stains or marks from the floor with a commercial marble cleaner you can apply a self polishing water based wax to the surface. It is made from a unique blend of orange oil beeswax and carnauba wax. Wax will not allow your stone to breath and will ultimately need to be stripped from the stone especially if there are layers upon layers. Self polishing marble wax is a great way to get a shiny glossy finish without a ton of time.

If the floor does not have a wax or coating or after you strip it off you find the marble floor is dull and dirty with traffic patterns then my best recommendation would be to hire a marble restoration professional. This is not a normal cleaning job. If the floor is still not as shiny as you desire purchase a marble polish that is especially made for marble floors or you can use car wax to buff the floor to a high shine. Using wax on marble floors also creates additional maintenance because the wax will easily scuff or dull.

Polish the floor by buffing it to a shine with paper towels. Wax will not solve the problem plus putting wax on marble countertops floors or tables is a bad idea. The problem with wax is that it can lead to discoloration of your stone.
