Blending Siding Addition With Brick Exterior

I would like to paint the siding to blend with the color of the house but my contractor is recommending that i paint the siding of the addition the same color as the trim white.

Craftsman homes may use a combination of stone and brick cladding or brick and wood siding. Due to cost we are using siding on the addition instead of brick to match the exterior. It looks beautiful in relation to the brick exterior of the rest of the house and completely historically appropriate. The addition will be at the back of the house and not seen from the street.

Perhaps add coordinating shutters as well. If you can t match the materials exactly choose a different siding option that complements the old material. If you can incorporate stone or brick into the new design it often elevates the look of your house overall. You can choose from a sweeping variety of colors and textures or can opt to paint it yourself.

Olive green looks nice with red brick as does charcoal with a blue undertone. However their simple design can also make them a good canvas to carry brighter colors. In this photo the board and batten and the brick are painted to match each other as well as the trim. For example old brick and mortar is impossible to match.
